COVID-19 IMPACT ON WESTCHASE SOCCER ASSOCIATION

FALL 2020 SOCCER PROGRAM – CANCELLED

Westchase Soccer Association (WSA) believes caution and player safety should always take precedence above all.  Medical experts are warning of a possible resurgence of COVID-19 in the fall.  Out of an abundance of caution, WSA will not be offering a Fall 2020 soccer program.  WSA feels we are doing our part to act responsibly during this pandemic by taking proactive measures to reduce the spread of the coronavirus.  This decision is in the best interest of our players, families and community.

We recognize the disappointment of not offering a WSA soccer program this fall, but WSA strives to put the health and safety of our participants first and foremost in our decisions. WSA would like to thank you for your support and understanding of our decisions during these extraordinary circumstances.

July 15, 2020 – All refund checks for the Spring 2020 season have been generated.  Due to the large quantity of checks issued, WSA’s financial institution asks that we refrain from reporting undelivered checks until after August 15.

MAY 22, 2020 – Hillsborough County Athletics update based on Governor DeSantis lifts restrictions on youth activities.

CDC Considerations for Youth Sports

May 18, 2020 – Hillsborough County Athletics is working with all youth sports organizations on “Return to Play” protocol but have not yet informed leagues when the Hillsborough County fields/facilities will be open.  WSA believes caution and player safety should always take precedence above all.  As we work with the County and other youth soccer leagues, we will continue to adhere to regulations set forth by our local and state government, as well as public health authorities, especially as safety measures and news related to COVID-19 constantly evolve.  WSA expects to make an announcement soon regarding its plans but does not want to affect other soccer organizations in our coalition by setting an expectation.  We thank everyone for your patience.

MAY 6, 2020 – WSA update regarding HC Parks & Rec decision.

APRIL 21, 2020 – Florida Youth Soccer Association update.

APRIL 8, 2020 – Hillsborough County Athletics Update to leagues.

APRIL 3, 2020 – Status Update from WSA

MARCH 13, 2020 –  WSA’s Announcement to suspend activities.

Stay safe,
Westchase Soccer Association

WESTCHASE SOCCER ASSOCIATION

Westchase Soccer Association (WSA) is a recreational soccer league providing soccer programs to children in the greater Northwest Tampa area.  The WSA organization follows these principles:

EVERYONE PLAYS

  • Our program is open to all children ages 3 to 14.
  • No experience is necessary.  Everyone plays–just follow the rules for participation and have enthusiasm!

BALANCED TEAMS

  • Teams are co-ed, play in-house, and are set up as evenly as possible.
  • It’s more fun when teams are of equal ability.

POSITIVE COACHING

  • Coaches are trained and encouraged to make the extra effort to understand and offer positive help to our players, rather than use negative criticism.
  • This approach builds a positive team spirit.

GOOD SPORTSMANSHIP

  • We create a positive environment based upon mutual respect, rather than a win-at-all-costs attitude.
  • Our program is designed to instill good sportsmanship in our kids and our volunteers.
  • No official score will be recorded nor will WSA keep any standings.
