COVID-19 IMPACT ON WESTCHASE SOCCER ASSOCIATION

APRIL 3, 2020 UPDATE:

Westchase Soccer Association (WSA) is continuing to monitor the COVID-19 pandemic and are following official guidance from government officials at the local, state and federal levels. We know that this is a complex and quickly evolving situation.

We are constantly monitoring and consulting with other organizations to ensure we are taking the appropriate actions. As promised, we will keep you updated as things continue to change. WSA looks forward to allowing the children to participate in soccer activities as soon as it is safe to do so. When the time comes, we will broadcast whether we can proceed with WSA’s Spring soccer season.

As a global community, we are facing a time of unprecedented public health challenges. Westchase Soccer Association sincerely appreciates your continued cooperation. Together we will get through this!

Going forward, WSA will continue to here status updates that are relevant to our program so parents may check at their convenience.

Stay safe,

Westchase Soccer Association

March 13, 2020:

Due to the increasing concerns of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, effective immediately, all Westchase Soccer Association (WSA) soccer activities (practices and games) are suspended until further notice.

WSA has been evaluating what the impact may be to our organization and how we need to respond. WSA feels we must take proactive measures to reduce the spread of the virus and this decision is in the best interest of our players, families and community.

By suspending all of our soccer activities, WSA feels we are doing our part to act responsibly, without being alarmists during this crisis. WSA encourages everyone to cooperate with authorities and focus on doing everything possible to help contain and stop the spread of this virus. For more information, visit the Centers for Disease Control website and subscribe to public safety alerts from Hillsborough County: HCFL/StaySafe.

WSA will continue to monitor this situation closely, consulting with Hillsborough County officials and collecting data as it is made available. We will broadcast updates via email and our website as more definitive information becomes available which will guide our  decisions regarding when to proceed with our Spring 2020 season.

We recognize the disappointment of not being able to practice and play games, but WSA strives to put the health and safety of our participants first and foremost in our decisions. WSA would like to thank you for your support and understanding of our decisions during these extraordinary circumstances.

Stay safe,

Westchase Soccer Association

WESTCHASE SOCCER ASSOCIATION

Westchase Soccer Association (WSA) is a recreational soccer league providing soccer programs to children in the greater Northwest Tampa area.  The WSA organization follows these principles:

EVERYONE PLAYS

  • Our program is open to all children ages 3 to 14.
  • No experience is necessary.  Everyone plays–just follow the rules for participation and have enthusiasm!

BALANCED TEAMS

  • Teams are co-ed, play in-house, and are set up as evenly as possible.
  • It’s more fun when teams are of equal ability.

POSITIVE COACHING

  • Coaches are trained and encouraged to make the extra effort to understand and offer positive help to our players, rather than use negative criticism.
  • This approach builds a positive team spirit.

GOOD SPORTSMANSHIP

  • We create a positive environment based upon mutual respect, rather than a win-at-all-costs attitude.
  • Our program is designed to instill good sportsmanship in our kids and our volunteers.
  • No official score will be recorded nor will WSA keep any standings.
